Local artist, Polly Shindler, whose work we've shown at Troutbeck, is offering her clever paper mache ornaments for sale here, though if you're looking for a much more substantial gift, consider purchasing a Polly Shindler painting or commissioning one for someone you love.

GIFTS FROM FRIENDS OF TROUTBECK FOR THOSE YOU LOVE
From last year's Holiday Bazaar participants, PORTA NYC offer their usual array of tabletop splendors, like this jewel-like candy bowl, and this year are collaborating with Object & Thing on an apperitivo set handmade in silver by artist Heath Wagoner.
Meanwhile, La Maison Fête offers their quintessentially stylish accessories for the home. Case in point, does the sight of a plastic lighter on an otherwise gorgeously styled mantle make anyone else's eggnog rumble? La Maison Fête sells leatherbound refillable lighters that don't detract from yearround home chicness.
Russell Janis, the line of artist prints, ceramics and knitwear for home and self from locals Janis Stemmermann and Russell Steinart, supplies thoughtful, handmade objects to live with and enjoy daily. They're also hosting an artists bazaar on December 7th, from 11am to 7pm at Fiddlestyx, their 1930s barn, 85 Sharon Mountain Rd., Sharon, CT.
We are lucky to have several extremely gifted ceramacists in our midst. First is Charlie Dumaid of Dumais Made who created many of the bespoke ceramic lamps at Troutbeck. For the best gift to someone who is hosting you this year, bring Dumais Made ceramic pomegranites to add botanical cheer that lasts for many years to their tabletop or mantle. Further afield, friend Fernando Aciar of Fefo Studio has added some maximalist designs (radicchio pedestals, we're talking to you) to his collection of tableware, lighting and home furnishings.

There's nothing like gazing upon greenery in these colder greyer months. Bloem Hudson Valley sources vintage and antique vessels from the small stores and flea markets of our region to use as jardinieres for forced bulbs. No part of this is wasteful: the bulbs can be replanted outside and the vessels may be used again. It's truly a gift that keeps giving. For Troutbeck, Bloem is offering a holiday special to friends of Troutbeck: a group of 3 individual paperwhite container blooms; a medium arrangement (4-6 bulbs); a single large Amaryllis. Any for $75. For custom larger arrangements please inquire directly.
For more tabletop splendor, Choix Home's Carin Ceramics x Choix Arcadian and Vignette Trays make exceptionally pretty presents, and great to catch keys, serve bonbons or atop a vanity.
Also an immensely thoughtful gift for the (local) friend or family member who loves to cook, a gift certificate for the Maitri Farm C.S.A. You'll be supporting an organic farm and small business while likely securing yourself some excellent meals using the finest local produce (styled with Maitri Farm flowers!). Many cooks find the pleasant puzzle of using whatever is in the weekly box an inspiring way to get out of the culinary rut of cooking the same things again and again. Contact the farm to purchase:
Lastly, don't forget that our local bookshops, Merritt Bookstore in Millbrook and House of Books in Kent, offer an incredible selection of titles, but moreover their staff recommendations are worth the visit or phonecall. And if you haven't already, one of our favorite books of the year is The Friday Afternoon Club by upstate author, actor and director, Griffin Dunne.
