An October Destination

Autumn activities abound in our part of the world: apple picking, pumpkin patches, fall foliage, riding through the countryside on horseback, hiking and biking, of course. Fall is a lovely season at Trouteck.

BENTON HOUSE — BOOK A ROOM

Situated at a bend in the Webatuck River amongst the native grasses and willows of our meadows, a short walk over the stone bridge to the Manor House. Comfortably appointed screened porches serve as fresh-air living rooms...and the fires have been lit for the seasons throughout Manor House and in some guest rooms, too.

9/29 — TROUTBECK SYMPOSIUM SPEAKER SERIES LAUNCHES WITH DR. FRANK MITCHELL

Join us as we hear from Dr. Frank Mitchell, curatorial advisor on the Cornwall historical Society's current show, Finding Freeman|s , which explores the ascent of formerly enslaved people in Cornwall society. It fits perfectly with the Troutbeck Symposium's ongoing effort to air under-told stories of Black and Indigenous people of our region.

10/8 — FALCONRY RETURNS

If you've never met a falcon up close, it's time. The beloved owls and hawks of TC Management return to provide our in-house guests and members an immersive opportunity to experience and learn about birds of prey.

10/15 — DEBUTS AT TROUTBECK: TARAJIA MORRELL OF SAVOR

Join us for a reading and discussion of SAVOR (Ballantine 2022), co-authored by our very own Tarajia Morrell, Culinary Special Projects and Marketing Director, and the late chef Fatima Ali. Books will be available to purchase.

MASK MAKING FOR ALL AGES

Need a costume for the Wassaic Project Halloween Party? Join art educator Joanne Wasti in making your own Halloween masks using folded paper sculpture techniques.

Kids and parents will make masks for themselves using folded paper sculpture techniques. Depending on the age of the participants, Joanne will teach them how to cut, score and fold paper to make 3D masks. You'll also add found objects like yarn, ribbon and buttons to decorate the masks.
