Troutbeck Symposium 2023

Continuing the tradition of great minds convening at Troutbeck, this weekend, the Troutbeck Symposium — the student-led historical educational forum — returns for its second year. Middle and high school students from thirteen regional public and private schools will meet to listen, present, and discuss findings of their year-long research projects uncovering under-told histories of BIPOC communities nearby and nationally. Our community is invited to join the students at select times on Sunday and Tuesday, and to follow along as the students present their work on Monday, via livestream on @Coloringourpast.

New on view: Florescence by Alexis England

Troutbeck is delighted to present its second exhibition by local artist Alexis England — Florescence, curated by Jean-Paul Philippe. "This new series is an affair with colour and a departure from my restricted 'mono palette' - it's loud, slightly psychotic and unapologetically pretty," says the artist. The show will run through July 5th, with an opening reception on Friday, May 5, 6-8pm.

Cottage Courses: Spring Floral Arrangement Workshop with Abby Schmeichel

Make a Mother's Day bouquet for your mother or with your mother on Mother’s day weekend. Join sought after floral designer Abby Schmeichel of Hellabloom at Troutbeck, to learn the basics of floral design and create a gorgeous floral gift. Abby will teach attendees to design a naturally inspired, balanced floral arrangement, using freshly cut spring blooms from our neighbors at Maitri Farm.

5/14 — MOTHER'S DAY COOKIE WORKSHOP

Join Emma Isakoff, Pastry Chef at Troutbeck, for a sugar cookie workshop on Mother's Day! Emma will lead attendees on a walk across the property to forage for flowers, and then guide guests on glazing their flowers onto sugar cookies to create Mother's Day masterpieces.
