Located in Amenia, New York, within the vibrant Hudson Valley, Troutbeck is situated on acres of bucolic landscape, bisected by the Webutuck River and Dunham Creek. The gateway to the upstate cultural and creative corridor, Troutbeck - re-envisioned and carefully updated – is again what it was to so many before us: inspiration, respite, restoration, folly, community, nature and nurture – carrying forward its 250-year legacy of hospitality.
And when you’re ready, enjoy breakfast in your spacious king-sized bed nestled in luxurious Frette linens. Devour a new book by the fireplace, the peace and abundance beyond your windows, or perhaps opened to the country air - the sounds of the Webatuck river and Dunham creek as they roll beneath. However you wish to spend your time away, each of our unique rooms will provide the escape you need.
We’re situated amongst the vibrant and engaging communities of the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut. Visit Millerton, Amenia or Wassaic, NY and Sharon, CT by complimentary bicycle. Zipline Catamount in summer or ski it in winter. Hike, fly fish, ride horseback, gravel or mountain bike, take a farm tour, visit a distillery, a bookstore or any number of beautiful shops nearby. Truly, there is something for everyone. Troutbeck is active with arts and cultural programming, with curated events on property and off all year.

Settle into the quiet of winter at Troutbeck. Snow-softened grounds and steady fires create space for rest and contemplation. This weekend, a winter walk with local naturalist Loren Merrill brings an opportunity to slow down and take notice of the natural world around you.
Stay March 6 - 8, 2026 and reserve the WINTER WALK room package, which includes two spots on the walk. To reserve online, simply enter the dates, choose your preferred room, and select the WINTER WALK package.
Join local writer-photographer Dr. Loren Merrill for a Saturday afternoon winter nature walk on the Troutbeck property. Loren will take us through the woods as we look for wildlife (and signs of wildlife), and along the way he will discuss some of the amazing strategies adopted by different animals to survive winter in the Northeast: frogs that freeze solid, shrews that shrink, and birds that vacation in the tropics, to name a few. After two hours outdoors, you'll be guided back to Manor House for warm beverages to warm up. Note you'll be wandering primitive trails: bundle up and wear appropriate footwear. Bring binoculars if you have them!
Arrive on Friday at your leisure (check in is at 4pm), settle in, make your way to aperitivo and dinner and rest blissfully in your king-size bed with Frette linens. In the morning, enjoy all the bucolic property has to offer, from warm hearths to our Saturday morning yoga class (included in your room rate) or wellness treatment in the Barns, and then, post-leisurely lunch, convene at Reception to head out for your guided winter walk and connect with the abundant nature in which Troutbeck is situated. Afterward, consider exploring our environs via our Town Guides, before another lovely evening at Troutbeck or nearby. We serve Sunday Brunch from 11am (also check out time) to 3pm.
Loren Merrill is a writer-photographer with a PhD in ecology, physiology, and animal behavior from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Originally from New England, Loren travelled, photographed, and conducted research on four continents before settling in the Hudson Valley with his family just over a year ago. He is thrilled to be back in the Northeast, photographing and writing about many of the animals he grew up with. He writes for Northern Woodlands Magazine as well as a handful of other outlets, and he leads wildlife photography tours and workshops. Loren is also the Director of the Hog Island Audubon Photography of Maine Birds and Landscapes Camp which takes place on a small island off the coast of Maine. Visit Loren's website to learn more about his work and to see some of his photography.
