Culinary Styling Workshop + Lunch with Chef-Author-Stylist Mariana Velasquez
Participants will use edible elements—such as cheeses and fruit—as well as flowers and more to decorate the table, creating “moments” that elevate any meal to a festive occasion. Mariana will teach attendees about how to use light and their phone cameras to photograph food and tablescapes. Attendees will leave with dessert to take home, as well as a copy of Colombiana.
Casa Velasquez aprons will be available for purchase and her “homewear”will be available for pre-order.
A native of Colombia, Mariana moved to the United States 16 years ago and works with major brands and on many cookbooks as a food stylist (including Michelle Obama’s book, American Grown), as well as cooking and entertaining constantly in her own home. In June, Mariana debuted her own cookbook, Colombiana (Harper Collins), in which she celebrates authentic Colombian recipes and rituals through the lens of her stylist’s eye and love of holistic hosting. This Spring, Mariana will launch her “homewear” line, Casa Velasquez—dresses and outfits for entertaining, including her signature aprons.
