Join us for an imaginative afternoon of storytelling, puppetry, movement, and hands-on creativity with Sova Dance & Puppet Theater, led by founder and artistic director Adelka Polak. Polak's oeuvre will enchant children and parents alike!

A professional puppeteer, dancer, mask performer, and movement director, Polak has spent more than two decades exploring the ways puppetry, movement, and visual storytelling can connect audiences of all ages. Her work has been presented throughout the United States and internationally, including at the New Victory Theater, Wolf Trap Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods, the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, Puppet Showplace Theater, and other leading arts and cultural venues. She has also helped more than 20,000 participants create puppets through workshops and educational programs.

At Troutbeck, Sova will bring that playful, multidisciplinary spirit to an interactive storytelling experience designed to spark imagination and invite children and families into the world of puppetry. Sova’s performances combine puppetry, dance, movement, mask, music, and visual elements to tell stories that transcend words and engage audiences of all ages.

Following the performance, participants will get to become puppet-makers themselves in a creative “make and take” workshop, crafting their own puppet to bring home. Little ones are very welcome, though younger children will need adult help and supervision during the crafting portion.
