We’re situated amongst the vibrant and engaging communities of the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut. Visit Millerton, Amenia or Wassaic, NY and Sharon, CT by complimentary bicycle. Zipline Catamount in summer or ski it in winter. Hike, fly fish, ride horseback, gravel or mountain bike, take a farm tour, visit a distillery, a bookstore or any number of beautiful shops nearby. Truly, there is something for everyone. Troutbeck is active with arts and cultural programming, with curated events on property and off all year.

Join Housatonic Valley Association and celebrate our watershed by exploring the creeks and streams that wind through Troutbeck's property.

This event is a part of HVA's "Celebrate Our Watershed" program that runs from May through September. Please click here to see HVA's full schedule of events.

This program is FREE and we encourage all participants to consider a donation to HVA.

About River Exploration at Troutbeck

This session includes map review, reviewing stream safety, introduction to macro-invertebrates and fish. Nets and buckets will be available for the collection of specimens to be viewed and observed and safely released at the end of the class. We will also be conducting a stream corridor assessment along the Dunham Creek - documenting unique stream features, invasive species, key habitat areas and possible sources of pollution.

This program is contingent on weather and stream conditions and are therefore subject to change. We encourage participants to wear rubber boots + rain pants/children's waders.
